Kodak's Corporate History Revealed

He borned in New York, USA in 1854. He invented Kodak company and a new technology known as film roll that made the photography something for everyone with his slogan "you press the button, we do the rest", it means that George made easier than it has ever been.
Kodak continued improving in order to use technology to make photography even easier for all. One of the main characteristics of Kodak as a company is the idea of create technology and products in mass at the lowest cost possible and that's why many people started taking pictures in a cheapy way.
But Kodak wanted to experience in something more, so they decided to invest in film (cinema) technology, so we can say that Kodak had his own role in movie industry, even nowadays there are many cinematographers that use Kodak's technologies in many movie screens. It was inspired by Thomas Edison, because he was the first person who used Kodak's film to create a motion picture.
In 1884 Kodak invented the negative role, and they used it to make copies, basically. It helped to created the first film emulsified for cinematographic and photography copies. Kodak demonstrated how useful can gelatin dry plates be in this industry using a gelatin-based paper film and a device for coating dry plates.
Then, Kodak developed technologies like the Kodacolor that made color movies something possible for those new filmmakers in 1928.
In 1929 Kodak introduced a new film pre-dyeing system to black and white called Sonochromo. This new system allow make films in tinted with 17 different colors: Peachblow, inferno, candle flame, sunshine, purple haze, firelight, azure, nocturne, rose doree, and the neutral-density Argent.
In 1990 Kodak created a kind of computer called the Cineon System, it used a software of digital video system to make post-production in the pictures. Then, the first movie launched in this format was "Snow White and the Senven Dwarfs" in 1993.
Otherwise in film industry, the Kodak's films were made using flamable materials, this job had to be done by a professional person because this process needed an special care and any kind of special system to be used. Then Kodak improvde all of this systems, using synthetic polymer to make the more easy and useful for many people who wanted to work in the industry. Also it made them more resistant.
Kodak also has developed many technologies dedicated to photography and cinema like the Ektachrome which everyone who had a Kodak camera was able to use. Kodak improved a lot of techniques using new technology, mostly developed by themselves and that's what make an enterprise a company innovative with a big vision of future.
Many technologies done by Eastman Kodak Company has been used until recent years. One of their most biggest goals was the introduction of digital photography to the industry. It represents a technological revolution in photography and video because it made a point in the history of this art. Now, most peoplo is able to do pictures by Kodak's ideas. Their first camera was quite big (see the picture below), but technology has advanced at the point of get better results in a device that we can bring in the pocket, for example a GoPro or our smartphone camera:
In 1980 Eastman Kodak Company presented the new T-Grain (their advanced emulsion), the T-Grain transformed to be used in the films that were able to work together with Kodak's technology. It improved te quality of the pictures and the posibilities that photographers and filmmakers had at that time. Nowadays those technologies are increasing, but the important fact is that is thanks by Kodak that we have all of those posibilities today.
But not everything is good at all, in 1997, Kodak was so close of a bankruptcy. Basically what they did was create a new storage system, that innovated again the photography market. This system, as you can imagine was able to save many pictures digitally. Many other companies like SONY, Fuji... etc wanted to explore a world of new posibilities with this new technology, so one more time Kodak did his job well, and this idea saved them of bankruptcy.
Nowadays, Kodak has big records and mistakes that are being solved everyday. They have in the market many products that share market with many others companies that we know, for example GoPro, Canon, Nikon, Epson...etc. Also, there are many directors and photographers that preffer using Kodak technologies.
Kodak has a great history, they are innovative and relevant in the market, and although we have moved to other brands, we have to keep in mind that is thanks to Kodak that we hace access to this wonderful art.
